Sanyo 3-1/2 Cup Micro-Computerized Rice Cookers/Warmers With Bread-Baking Functions Review

by Amy Chang

People who are looking for a rice cooker that delivers perfectly cooked rice time after time the Sanyo 3-1/2 Cup Micro-Computerized Rice Cookers/Warmers With Bread-Baking Functions is one of the best choices on the market. One of the things that I love about my Sanyo is it is the perfect fit for my family, at 3-1/2 cups I can easily make enough rice with some left over. Even better is that even with all of the extra features that the Sanyo 3-1/2 Cup Micro-Computerized Rice Cooker comes with it is still so easy to use, even my husband can use it. All one has to do is place the right amount of rice and water inside the rice cooker, press the right menu button and the machine does the rest.

Pros:

    • Bread-Baking Function – Many people are under the impression that this rice cooker transforms into a bread machine, but that is not quite true. Yes, the rice cooker has a bread-baking function, but it cannot make the dough like a bread machine can. For people who wish to use the bread-baking function the dough must be made before going into the rice cooker. However, once the dough goes in the bread that it bakes is so tasty that you will want to make another loaf as soon as possible.

    • Fuzzy Logic Technology – Like many other rice cookers this one comes with the fuzzy logic technology in the form of a computer chip. This technology is quite useful in this model of rice cooker because it ensures that the rice is cooked to perfection no matter what type of rice one is making, including mixed rice. Rinse-free rice can even be cooked to perfection. The fuzzy logic setting automatically adjusts the temperature and cooking time based on the settings chosen from the main menu.

    • Pre-Soak Function – One of the tricks that I have learned when making rice is to allow my rice to pre-soak, it really helps with the taste of the rice. This model comes with a pre-soak option so the rice has the chance to get additional soak time before the rice cooker starts cooking it.

  • Keep Warm Settings – One of the best things about the keep warm setting is that it is automatic. As soon as the rice is done cooking, it switches over to the keep warm setting to ensure the rice is hot when served. There is also a reheat setting which allows me to reheat the rice to its original temperature without having to use a microwave.

Cons:

  • A lot of pieces to clean – The only drawback to this machine is how many different pieces there are to clean. I don’t mind having to clean the rice cooker, but some people might find this to be a little irritating because to get everything clean pieces have to be taken apart and put back together before being used again.

The Sanyo 3-1/2 Cup Micro-Computerized Rice Cookers/Warmers with Bread Baking Functions is quite similar to the Sanyo ECJ-HC55S. The biggest difference between the two of them is the cup size; the ECJ-HC55S has a bigger cup size so it can cook more rice. The other differences are the extra features that each model comes with. The ECJ-HC55S comes with a slow cooker feature whereas this model comes with a bread-baking function.

The Sanyo 3-1/2 Cup Micro-Computerized Rice Cookers/Warmers with Bread-Baking Function is a very durable rice cooker. I love the fact that I can use it to cook rice or bread, although I cannot do both at the same time. The buttons located on the front of the machine do take some getting used to, but are very easy to see and use. This rice cooker is one of the more reasonably priced rice cookers on the market, but with all of the extra features it came with, I would definitely purchase it again.
